Executive Director of CMS Named SSH Academy Fellow

Blog - Executive Director of CMS Named SSH Academy Fellow

Jenny Rudolph, PhD, Executive Director of the Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) was among 16 healthcare simulation leaders inducted as Fellows to the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Academy. The cohort members were selected based on their contributions to the field of healthcare simulation and support of SSH’s mission and vision.

The induction ceremony was held at the 2018 International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH). New Fellows were invited to share stories related to their simulation careers.  Jenny shared how, in the summer of 1999, David Gaba, MD kindly toured an organizational behavior doctoral student he had never met around his Stanford sim center.  His generosity in introducing Jenny to simulation set her on the road to meet her soon-to-be mentors at the Center for Medical Simulation, Dan Raemer and Jeff Cooper.  Dr. Gaba is currently the Associate Dean for Immersive and Simulation-based Learning and Director of the Center for Immersive and Simulation based Learning (CISL) at Stanford University School of Medicine. Chief Curiosity Officer at CMS, Daniel Raemer, PhD, mentored Jenny through her doctoral dissertation on fixation error in peri-operative anesthesia crises, and helped her learn how to teach using simulation. CMS Founder, Jeffrey Cooper, PhD, is both Jenny’s predecessor and her mentor in leadership, and life-long learning.

Jenny is now the fourth Center for Medical Simulation staff member to join the SSH Academy. Raemer, Cooper, and Janice Palaganas, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, Director of Educational Innovation and Development at CMS, were inducted as SSH Academy Fellows in 2017.
