It’s a whole new way of interacting with learners. What if instead of a boring\, predictable series of discussion question posts and assignments\, your online courses were a dynamic journey that surprises and engages learners? This course will give faculty the confidence to create meaningful online learning experiences. Faculty have the skills to teach; we’ll show them how to transfer those skills to the online classroom – and it’s not about the technology! \nLearning Objectives\nAt the end of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nCreate courses that wow learners with their interactivity and potent learning experiences\nReliably build online learning experiences that students love\nForge online connections to build the teacher-learner relationship as well as a peer community of practice\nApply key principles of online teaching to create social\, cognitive and teaching presence\nAvoid alienating or “turning off” your students to the whole online paradigm\n\nFormat\nCourse participants meet in an interactive video conference twice over the course of two days. All materials and course interactions will occur online. In order to participate fully\, each participant must have: \n\nTheir own computer (tablets and mobile phones do not allow full engagement )\nReliable high-speed internet access (minimum 3 Mbps upload/download speed)\nMicrophone and speakers (built-in\, headset or from webcam)\nWebcam\n\nEach individual – even those participants who are from the same institution – needs his or her own computer and computer headset (microphone and earphones). We highly encourage you to have a webcam to enrich our interactions. \nInstructors\n\n\n\nMary Fey\, PhD\, RN\, CHSE-A\, ANEF\nSenior Director\, Teaching and Learning\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts \nDr. Fey has been working in the field of clinical simulation since 2007 and has been responsible for developing clinical simulation programs\, integrating simulation into nursing curricula\, and designing simulation labs. She has completed both qualitative and quantitative studies on debriefing and provides faculty development to interprofessional groups of simulation educators. \n\n\n  \n\n\n\nJames Lipshaw\, MFA\, EdM\nEducation and Media Instructional Designer\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts \nJames is a graduate of Stanford University (BA)\, Boston University (EdM)\, and the Rhode Island School of Design (MFA). Prior to joining CMS as an Instructional Designer\, James was the Founding Visual Arts Teacher at KIPP Academy Boston\, and a sixth grade ESL teacher at the Edmond P. Talbot Innovation Middle School in Fall River\, Massachusetts. SUMMARY:ACRM-F7/MOCA® Workshop
DESCRIPTION:MOCA®/Crisis Resource Management Training for Practicing Anesthesiologists (ACRM) \nThe Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) offers intensive one day workshops in Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM) for all anesthesiologists that will meet the MOCA® Part IV simulation requirement. \nCMS Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management workshops are designed for those anesthesiologists seeking to practice their skills in managing critical events. The overall focus of these workshops is on learning the type of teamwork and generic skills needed when managing any kind of infrequent but critical event in anesthesia and opportunities will be made available to learn skills in managing certain specific events. During the workshops\, participants requiring MOCA® certification will each have a turn as the primary anesthesiologist caring for the patient. \nPlease note that if you are from BWH\, BIDMC\, BCH\, MGH\, NWH\, or MEEI you must register for the workshop through your scheduler. If you desire MOCA certification you must tell your scheduler before coming to CMS. All others should register through the website. We must know beforehand if you want to use this workshop to meet your MOCA requirement. We cannot register you for MOCA credit on the day of the workshop or after you have taken the workshop. \nLearn more about the course.
