DESCRIPTION:Simulation Instructor Training: Advanced Instructor Course (AIC)\nThe January 6-9\, 2022 course will be offered as a hybrid delivery of both in person and online learning from 8:30AM to 5:00PM Hong Kong Time (HKT). Please contact us with any questions or concerns. \nDesigned to prepare leaders in simulation-based education both to develop their own debriefing and feedback skills and to structure and enhance simulation faculty development\, and strategic management of their simulation programs. Using cutting edge educational theory and practice\, the course presents a conceptual framework and uses repeated micro-cycles of practice and feedback on debriefing\, scenarios\, and strategic challenges to accelerate skill acquisition and demonstrate methods of faculty development. The course is structured to allow participants to experience a model of peer- and mentor-led “community of inquiry.” This community allows individuals to reflect on their own and other people’s instructional and management practices in action. \nThe daily format varies and includes didactics\, advanced debriefing practice\, advanced scenario development\, development of advanced self-observation and reflection skills\, and peer- and mentor-led consulting on strategic challenges for your simulation program. \nCourse Prerequisites\nTo be eligible for this course\, participants must have previously taken either the Healthcare Simulation Essentials (formerly Comprehensive Instructor) or Simulation as a Teaching Tool courses. Individuals who have not taken either course may apply for an exemption if they can demonstrate significant debriefing experience and expertise. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. \nThe Center for Medical Simulation’s Gateway Debriefing Skills Workshop introduces healthcare education faculty to the foundational practices of the “Debriefing with Good Judgment©” method of debriefing. This innovative Workshop combines a day long immersive in-person learning experience with online learning that includes customized peer-to-peer and mentor feedback. \nTechnology Requirements\nThis online course is delivered via Zoom\, a web conferencing platform\, and the CMS Virtual Campus\, a learning management system. All materials and course interactions will occur online. In order to participate fully\, each participant must have: \n\nTheir own computer (tablets and mobile phones do not allow full engagement )\nReliable high-speed internet access (minimum 3 Mbps upload/download speed)\nMicrophone and speakers (built-in\, headset or from webcam)\nWebcam\n\nEach individual – even those participants who are from the same institution – needs their own computer and computer headset (microphone and earphones).
