DESCRIPTION:Improving Teamwork and Crisis Resource Management (CRM) for Labor and Delivery Clinicians (L&DCRM-10)\nThis full day experiential course refines and advances principles of CRM for application in real clinical settings. \nCourse Topics Include:\nDiscussion of how participants are applying crisis resource management principles in clinical practice: \n\nClarifying roles\nCommunicating effectively\nUsing support\nManaging resources\nMaintaining situation awareness\n\nCourse Objectives\nParticipants will: \n\nUnderstand and practice the clinical management of high stakes low frequency critical events occurring on Labor and Delivery including resuscitation of mother and newborn\nParticipate in deliberate practice of teamwork skills applicable to Labor and Delivery to improve management of crisis situations\, including the role of event manager\, and practice communication strategies including closed loop communication\, explicit communication and narrative thinking\nIdentify and participate in deliberate practice of diagnostic problem solving and strategies to avoid fixation\, advancing familiarity with the Emergency Manuals for patient treatment during times of high cognitive load.\nSummarize and practice strategies for culture change with emphasis on inviting input from the team and encouraging speaking up when they have something important to share.\n\nLearn more about Improving Teamwork and Crisis Resource Management for Labor and Delivery Clinicians\nOpen to Anesthesiologists and CRNAs only.
