SUMMARY:Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing: MultiCare Health System - Tacoma\, WA
DESCRIPTION:Simulation Instructor Training\nHealthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing (HSEDD)\n\nThis course is for internal participants only\, as identified by MultiCare Health System. The June 9-13\, 2025 course will only be offered online from 8:00AM to 4:00PM US Pacific time. View the course start time in your local time zone. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. \nLed by some of the world’s leading simulation educators\, the Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing (HSEDD) course is the Center for Medical Simulation’s (CMS) flagship faculty development course. Featuring CMS’ Debriefing with Good Judgment ® and SimZones approaches\, the course prepares simulation program leaders and instructors to position simulation to solve real problems in healthcare organizations and health profession schools. Attendees can expect the Center for Medical Simulation’s well-known transformational educational experience provided by a team of the world’s leading simulation experts with diverse expertise and backgrounds. \nTo leverage attendees investment in this course and position attendees’ work to have the greatest sustainable impact\, we ask attendees to do some work before the course begins. We ask attendees to speak with at least one key partner in their organization to identify a problem that can be addressed with simulation (e.g. patient safety issues\, curriculum challenges). In the course\, we will then work with each attendee in immersive small groups to design simulation curriculum using our proven methods\, as well as practice Debriefing with Good Judgment©. \n \nCourse Readiness Goals\n\nCo-create a strategic plan with partners to make a sustainable impact with simulation\nBuild a challenging and safe learning environment\nDesign\, conduct\, and debrief simulations across the SimZones\nApply the “With Good Judgment” approach to change behavior\nThrive as an educator and change agent\n\nFormat:\nThe course will take place online over 5 consecutive days. It is our experience that this intense course is best accomplished via continuous\, individualized mentoring from both highly experienced CMS faculty\, as well as from peers in the course. The course interweaves discussions\, immersive practice with feedback and reflections. Participants will facilitate prebriefings and debriefings and receive coaching and feedback from leading debriefing experts. \nTechnology Requirements\nThis online course is delivered via Zoom\, a web conferencing platform\, and the CMS Virtual Campus\, a learning management system. All materials and course interactions will occur online. To participate in this course\, each individual – even if they are attending the course with a colleague from the same institution – needs: \n\nTheir own computer (desktop or laptop). Sharing a computer limits the ability to interact. There will be many instances where we will break out into different rooms in Zoom. Tablets and mobile phones do not allow full engagement to complete the course.\nReliable high-speed internet access (minimum 3 Mbps upload/download speed). Wired internet access is much preferred; wireless internet access is less likely to work well.\nTheir own computer headset (microphone and earphones)\nWebcam\nZoom Desktop Client installed on their computer\nWe recommend downloading and installing the Zoom Desktop Client on the computer used for the course for full functionality.\nTheir own space away from others because conversations from nearby colleagues can interfere with the course audio. This course should be completed in a space not shared with others.

SUMMARY:Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare (DASH) Rater Training Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Tuition\n$525 USD\nNOTE: Tuition covers 1 person to participate in the webinar. No additional viewers are allowed. If you would like us to run this course exclusively for members of your department or institution\, please Contact Us. \nApply Now \nAbout this session\nDebriefing clinical simulation experiences is widely understood as a crucial step in clarifying and consolidating insights and lessons from simulations. The Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare (DASH) is designed to assist in evaluating and developing faculty debriefing and instructional skills. The DASH is a widely used instrument with known psychometric properties. It is designed to be applied in a variety of healthcare disciplines and simulation settings and can be used for summative or formative evaluation. This intensive immersion provides an overview of the six elements to an effective debriefing as defined by the DASH before moving into three rating cycles. \nEquipment Requirements\nThe webinar is delivered via Zoom\, a web conferencing platform. All materials and course interactions will occur online. In order to participate fully\, each person must have: \n\nTheir own computer\, tablet\, or mobile phone\nReliable high-speed internet access (minimum 3 Mbps upload/download speed)\nMicrophone and speakers (built-in\, headset or from webcam)\nOptional (but preferred): Webcam\n\nEach individual – even those participants who are from the same institution – needs his or her own computer and computer headset (microphone and earphones). We highly encourage you to have a webcam to enrich our interactions. \n\nInstructors\n\n\n\nJanice Palaganas\, PhD\, RN\, NP\, FSSH\, ANEF\, FAAN\nAssociate Director of Health Professions Education\nMGH Institute of Health Professions\, Boston\, Massachusetts\nPrincipal Faculty\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts \nDr. Palaganas has developed a passion for teamwork from her background as an emergency nurse\, trauma nurse practitioner\, director of emergency and critical care services\, and faculty for schools of medicine\, nursing\, allied health\, management\, physician assistant studies\, and emergency medicine. As a behavioral scientist and former clinical nurse and hospital administrator\, Dr. Palaganas’ passion is in using health care simulation as a platform for interprofessional education. She served as a committee member of the Institute of Medicine’s report on measuring the impact of interprofessional education on practice. Dr. Palaganas has shaped the field of simulation\, leading the development of the Society for Simulation’s Accreditation and Certification Program\, authored their first textbook\, Defining Excellence in Simulation Programs as editor-in-chief. She urged the development of the recently released Society for Simulation dictionary\, authored seminal articles\, and co-authored field-changing research including the National League for Nursing study for high-stakes assessment using simulation. \n\n\n\n\n\nJenny Rudolph\, PhD\nExecutive Director\nCenter for Medical Simulation\nBoston\, Massachusetts\, USA \nDr. Rudolph is an organization behavior scholar who has helped health educators world-wide promote dynamic\, honest\, but non-threatening conversations through the “debriefing with good judgment” approach to reflective conversations. Dr. Rudolph is a life-long athlete who brings the joy of practice to learning in healthcare education\, especially feedback\, debriefing\, and collaboration at point of care. \n\n\n\n\nLearn more about this course
