SUMMARY:Online Debriefing Skills Refresher Course
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Medical Simulation’s Online Debriefing Skills Refresher Course (ODSRC) provides a way for CMS’ Simulation Instructor Training alumni to refresh and continue to develop their debriefing skills. Over a 6 week period of time\, participants will engage in a variety of online learning activities to refresh skills related to advocacy-inquiry\, structuring a multi-phase debriefing discussion\, and prebriefing. Based on both peer mentoring and faculty feedback\, the course offers a variety of ways to build on skills acquired during our in-person courses. \nThis course is for experienced healthcare educators trained in the Debriefing with Good Judgment method. This is not an introductory Debriefing with Good Judgment course. Participants must have previously taken one of the following Center for Medical Simulation courses:\nGateway Debriefing Skills Workshop\nComprehensive Instructor\nSimulation as a Teaching Tool \nNOTE: During course weeks 3 (February 25-March 1) and 5 (March 11-15)\, CMS faculty will lead several synchronous online Simulated Debriefing sessions (90 minutes).\nThe course will run February 11 – March 22\, 2019. There are two weeks during which we’ll have synchronous sessions in the form of simulated debriefings and one synchronous closing session in week 6. For your planning purposes\, we’d like to let you know when the synchronous sessions are scheduled. \nThe simulated debriefing sessions will last 90 minutes. There will be multiple sessions offered during week #3 (February 25-March 1) and week #5 (March 11-15). Session times are listed in US Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5).
