These informal discussions often take place during meal breaks during courses or in the hallways at conferences. These questions often lead to interesting discussions and sharing of resources. \nOnline learning doesn’t have to be a pale imitation of “real” in-person learning. It’s a whole new way of interacting with learners. What if instead of a boring\, predictable series of discussion question posts and assignments\, your online courses were a dynamic journey that surprises and engages learners? \nJoin the faculty for an informal question and answer session. Ask anything! \nQuestions can be submitted when registering for the webinar. The Q & A section of Zoom will also be open to live questions and comments. \nWe look forward to a lively discussion! \nEquipment Requirements\nThe webinar is delivered via Zoom\, a web conferencing platform. All materials and course interactions will occur online. In order to participate fully\, each person must have: \n\nTheir own computer\, tablet\, or mobile phone\nReliable high-speed internet access (minimum 3 Mbps upload/download speed)\nMicrophone and speakers (built-in\, headset or from webcam)\nOptional: Webcam\n\nRecording\nWe are aware that internet connection speed and bandwidth is not consistent globally and thus can cause intermittent interruption of audio and/or video from the webinar. We will make the entire webinar recording available after it concludes in the Resources section of our website\, including sharing any links referenced during the webinar. \nHost\n\n\n\nDemian Szyld\, MD\, EdM\nSenior Director\, Faculty Development Program\nCenter for Medical Simulation \nBoston\, Massachusetts \nDr. Szyld is an Emergency Medicine physician at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Szyld was the first Simulation and Education Fellow at the STRATUS Simulation Center at BWH and is actively involved in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and has chaired the Formal Training Affinity Group\, led the Affiliations Committee and served as an Accreditation Site Reviewer and completed a term on the Board of Directors (2016-2019). \n\n\n\nModerator\n\n\n\nAnn Mullen\, RN\, MSN\, CHSE\nProgram Manager\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts\nPresident\nFoundation for Healthcare Simulation Safety \nAnn has over 30 years of experience in critical care nursing and staff education. Prior to joining CMS\, Ann was the Program Manager of the Shipley Medical Simulation Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital where she was responsible for program planning\, faculty training and ongoing faculty development. Her interests include faculty development\, debriefing and simulation safety. \n\n\n\n\nPresenters\n\n\n\nJames Lipshaw\, MFA\, EdM\nEducation and Media Instructional Designer\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts \nJames is a graduate of Stanford University (BA)\, Boston University (EdM)\, and the Rhode Island School of Design (MFA). Prior to joining CMS as an Instructional Designer\, James was the Founding Visual Arts Teacher at KIPP Academy Boston\, and a sixth grade ESL teacher at the Edmond P. Talbot Innovation Middle School in Fall River\, Massachusetts. He served two years as a Teach for America Massachusetts Corps Member. \n\n\n  \n\n\n\nMary Fey\, PhD\, RN\, CHSE-A\, ANEF\nSenior Director\, Teaching and Learning\nCenter for Medical Simulation\, Boston\, Massachusetts \nDr. Fey has has been working in the field of clinical simulation since 2007 and has been responsible for developing clinical simulation programs\, integrating simulation into nursing curricula\, and designing simulation labs.
