The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) and the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) are pleased to announce that eight, partial tuition scholarships have been awarded to four, two member, teams of nurses to attend CMS’ basic interprofessional  Simulation Instructor Program, the Comprehensive Instructor Workshop, aimed at improving the skills of simulation educators.

The eight, $2,500 partial tuition scholarships (full tuition is $4,875) were made available through the generosity of an anonymous nurse donor who would like to improve the ways that simulation is used in nursing education. Her interest was prompted in part by the increasing importance of interprofessional education and mounting evidence of the usefulness of simulation as an effective teaching tool in nursing education. A selection committee consisting of the nurse donor and faculty members from IHP and CMS made the selections.  The eight nurses chosen were from:

  • Michigan State University
  • Brock University (Ontario, Canada)
  • University of Arkansas
  • University of Vermont

Jeffrey Cooper, CMS’ Executive Director, was gratified by the tremendous response from all over the world to the scholarship offer. Jeff noted that the selection committee had a difficult time choosing from all of the outstanding team applications. He is hopeful that another round of scholarships can be offered next year.
