Highlights & Benefits

Patient safety is an integral component of healthcare and many efforts are underway to reduce medical errors and injuries and malpractice claims that result from them. Adverse events often involve failures of team performance. The increasingly high cost of malpractice claims has made patient safety and error reduction priorities for loss prevention interventions, with a focus on interventions that improve teamwork and communication.

The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) has conducted courses for anesthesia residents since 1994 and for all Harvard Medical School-affiliated faculty since 2001. We began offering Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia MOCA® courses in 2010. With our endorsement by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), we offer programs for private practice and academic anesthesiologists who wish to challenge themselves and develop and practice their crisis management skills.
