ALPS for Health Professions Slider

Health professions schools face growing pressure to demonstrate that their simulation programs meet the highest standards of educational quality. INACSL Endorsement, awarded under the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice® (HSSOBP®), provides precisely that recognition, validating a program’s excellence across the four Cornerstones of Best Practice: Preparation & Briefing, Professional Integrity, Facilitation, and Debriefing.

The Center for Medical Simulation has built a dedicated service line to guide health professions schools through every stage of the endorsement journey. Drawing on decades of recognized expertise in simulation-based education, debriefing, faculty development, and curriculum design, CMS translates the INACSL standards into practical, measurable change: lasting program excellence, not just checkbox compliance.

Why INACSL Endorsement Matters

INACSL Endorsement is more than a credential. It signals to students, faculty, accreditors, and clinical partners that your simulation program operates at the forefront of the field. Programs that earn endorsement have demonstrated that they:

  • Apply evidence-based facilitation and debriefing practices consistently and intentionally
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards across all simulation activities
  • Prepare learners deliberately and rigorously through structured briefing
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement grounded in outcomes data

Earning this recognition strengthens institutional reputation, supports accreditation efforts, and provides a powerful differentiator in a competitive landscape for student recruitment and faculty hiring.

The CMS Approach: Practical, Outcome-Driven Change Management

CMS takes a structured, evidence-informed approach to helping schools achieve endorsement. Rather than a prescriptive checklist, our process begins with understanding where your program stands today, then builds a customized pathway toward demonstrable excellence. At every stage, our consultants work alongside your faculty and leadership — not above them — to build internal capacity that outlasts our engagement.

The CMS engagement model centers on three integrated components, which can be deployed together or in sequence depending on your program’s needs:

Roadmap 3: Assessment Roadmap 2: Multi-Year Engagement Roadmap 1: Application Support

Multi-Year Consulting Roadmap

The following roadmap illustrates a full three-year engagement for programs pursuing both comprehensive program development and INACSL Endorsement. Engagements are tailored based on each school’s readiness assessment findings; programs with stronger existing foundations may achieve endorsement readiness in two years.

Multi-Year Readiness Roadmap

A Proven Track Record

CMS’s approach is not theoretical. We have guided the INACSL Endorsement process at four separate universities, demonstrating our ability to achieve results across institutional contexts and varying program maturities. Our consultants bring deep firsthand knowledge of what it takes to earn and sustain endorsement at the highest standard.
