The Center for Medical Simulation’s (CMS) Janice Palaganas, RN, MSN, PhD, is currently in Washington, D.C. sitting on the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Impact of Interprofessional Education (IPE) Committee who are tasked this week to recommend methods that could demonstrate IPE’s impact on collaborative practice and patient outcomes. This is a milestone for the field of simulation to have a Simulationist sitting on this committee.

Dr. Palaganas is the Associate Director of CMS’ Simulation Faculty Development Program, the Institute for Medical Simulation. She has been involved nationally and internationally researching healthcare simulation for inter-professional education and has been an invited speaker on topics related to inter-professional education, healthcare simulation, program development, patient safety, and accreditation.
