The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) is pleased to announce the promotions of team members Laura Gay Majerus and James Lipshaw to new positions!

Like so many educational organizations, CMS’ world was turned upside down 18 months ago. Thanks to the the creativity and hard work of dedicated team members like Laura and James, CMS has been able to weather the pandemic storm. These promotions not only reflect Laura and Jame’s contributions to our success in overcoming this difficult period, but also how they have grown professionally over the last few years, playing increasingly important roles in how our work is done.

Effective immediately, Laura will serve as the Assistant Director of Business Operations and James will serve as the Assistant Director of Instructional Design.

Laura’s new role will provide a broader scope for her creativity and leadership. In her new role, Laura will assist CMS’ COO with managing daily business operations related to CMS’ service line programs, finances, online technology and marketing. This will include maintaining and improving critical business processes; managing all aspects of the CMS website including security and analytics; managing CMS’ social media sites, the learning managment and training management systems as well as systems for communicating with our learners and clients.

James’ new role brings his ingenuity and experience in designing exciting and high-impact learning experiences to the fore. He will support CMS’ faculty and program leaders in thinking through and executing on instructional design innovation as well as making what we already do, work better. This will involve providing guiding input on the design and development of a portfolio of face-to-face, online, and blended curricula for a growing suite of programs offered by CMS. James will also serve as project manager of select digital media, course materials, curriculum, module designs, and course development projects as he supports course leaders in the timely and successful launch of high-quality programming.
