Blog - General Consul of Italy in Boston Visits CMS

Federica Sereni, the new General Consul of Italy in Boston visited the Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) to tour its facilities and view a live demonstration of the e-Real system by Logosnet co-founders, Fernando Salvetti and Barbara Bertagni. Ms. Sereni was joined by the Consulate’s Head of Education, Adamo Castelnuovo, and two student interns, Sira Gasparini and Mauro Pennacchio.

The group was welcomed to CMS by Mr. Salvetti and Ms. Bertagni along with Dr. Roxane Gardner, Senior Director of Clinical Programs. Dr. Gardner has been working with Mr. Salvetti and Ms. Bertagni to incorporate the e-REAL enhanced reality system into CMS’ programming. e-Real uses projectors and touch-tracking cameras to turn blank walls and empty spaces into immersive and interactive environments.

After exploring the e-Real system and discussing its potential uses in healthcare and education, the group toured CMS’ simulated operating room and emergency department as well as its control center and debriefing room. CMS was honored to welcome the visitors from the Consulate of Italy in Boston, who are visiting Boston-area businesses to facilitate networking, collaboration and foster cultural, and educational exchanges between Italian constituents and the local community.
